First off...welcome to Grow My TSP.
You are taking a step that many federal civilians and/or military members never do. You are actively managing your TSP account, and your retired self will thank you.
Take time to look through older articles on the site, watch previous Weekly Update Shows, and review earlier Weekly Update Newsletters. There is a wealth of knowledge in all of those.
Let's review a few topics we think will help you get the most out of our site:
Education vs. Financial Advice
First and foremost our site is an educational service.
Our goal is to show you how we have used technical analysis over the last 20 years to maximize growth in our TSP accounts, while minimizing risk.
The Grow My TSP site is not for direct financial planning/advice.
We share market analysis each week that helps inform you on where to allocate the money in your TSP account. This analysis can be found on your Member Dashboard under Weekly Update Newsletter (members only) and Weekly Update Show (publicly viewable on our YouTube channel and Facebook).
We also share our personal allocation changes in the TSP as “Alerts” when we make a change so that members can use that information to validate their own decisions on how to manage their account.
Most members make their allocation changes match ours, but some members don't. It's all based on your experience/comfort level in managing your TSP account, and your personal risk tolerance.
Our tolerance for risk tends to be very low, but yours may not be, and that's OK.
Allocation Alerts
We have a great article on our blog called "The Mechanics of and Alert." Click the link to better understand how, when and why we send out Alerts to members.
We also have an Alerts article here in the Support Center.
I need Help!
Most of the questions you have can be answered (or issues you have can be solved) in one of two sections on this Support Center. Make sure you familiarize yourself with both:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
If you don't find the solution you need here in the Support Center, then you can submit a support request by clicking the link on the upper right hand side of the page. Our support staff will be happy to help.
